Ali Ndume, Senate majority Leader says Nigeria will know no peace until the son of a nobody becomes somebody without knowing anybody.
Ndume, representing Borno South made this statement while briefing newsmen on a bill for the establishment of the Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State, which passed second reading on the floor of the Senate.
The Lawmaker expressed his anger on the way things are going on in the country, poor people are not getting employed in the government agencies because the have nobody in the government.
He said Nigeria will know no peace “until son of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody”.
The senator said, though job seekers bribe because they are desperate to get something doing, such act should be condemned totally.
“If they are employing people, let people be employed based on the constitutional provisions of federal character and merit.
“I feel very bad about it because I’m just privileged to become what I am without knowing anybody. Now, there are some people like me, but their own barrier is that they don’t know anybody.
“That is very unfortunate. And I say, this country will not have peace until the son of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody,” he said.
He however, also addressed the citing of the Army University in Bui, Borno State; despite the security challenges rocking the area.
Senator Ali Ndume is currently representing the people of the volatile area of Borno south, attacked by Boko Haram.
He has twice contested for the senate presidential seat in the senate, against Saraki and Ahmad Lawan and lost.
Recalled the Ndume had lamented on the increase of insecurity in his constituency and Nigeria at large.
He said, “the situation in the Northeast, particularly Borno State is terrible. I can tell you that the situation is getting worse. There is a resurgence of the insurgency in the northeast.
“Terrorists recently attacked Askira and Damboa Local Government Areas of his state and killed some people while carting away foodstuff and other valuables.
