Senator Ahmad Lawan has been elected senate president for the 9th assembly.
The senator representing Yobe North pulled out 79 votes to defeat his strong rivalry Senator Ndume who secured 28 votes.
Ahmad was nominated by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi of Kebbi North, the nomination was seconded by Senator Abiola Olaniyekan.
The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume was nominated for the office of the Senate President by Senator from Adamawa North, Ishaku Abo on the floor of the senate during Tuesday’s plenary.
Both accepted the nomination and thank Almighty Allah for the opportunity and also told their colleagues what were their manifestos.
Meanwhile Ndume has been sworn in as the Senate President for the 9th Assembly.
