President Buhari has listed reasons why he appointed Daniel Amokachi as Nigeria’s Football Ambassador.
Recalled that on Tuesday 4, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had approved the appointment of Daniel Amokachi aka ‘Bull’ as Nigeria’s football Ambassador.
According to a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant, SSA on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu.
The President was quoted as follows:
That, Daniel Amokachi was a member of the 1994 Super Eagles’ Team that won African Nations Cup, ANC ’94 in Tunisia.
Amokachi was also in Nigerian Olympic Football Team in 1996 Atlanta Olympics that won the Gold Medal.
The President also noted that Amokacki’s contribution in the English Premiership League, EPL, as he won FA Cup with Everton in 1995.
Amokachi, after his retirement from the international football has managed Nasarawa United and Enyinmba Footbal Club of Aba.
Meanwhile the Federal government said that he will assist the Federal ministry of Youth and Sports Development to scout for talents and also be part of the process to revieve the country’s football development, as well as mentor young sportsmen and women.
Amokachi was an assistant coach to Shaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi.
He is also a regular guest on Super Sports.
Commenting on World Cup, Nation Cups, Champions League and other tournaments.
His Appointment takes immediate effect.
