President Buhari ‘Betrays Ameachi’, Appoints Senator Magnus Abe into NNPC

Buhari appoints Magnus Abe

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Senator Magnus Abe into Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

This has been seen as a sort of betrayal from the President to the Honorable Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi.

That, Magnus Abe should not be brought into political light since he di not allow Ameachi to produce the governorship candidate for APC.

Femi Adesina, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement, announced Magnus Abe as part of the NNPC Board.

The appointment was made known today, Saturday 30th May.

Magnus Abe is to represent South-South geopolitical zone in the NNPC Board.

It would be recalled that Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Magnus Abe have been sworn enemies since 2019, over who control the political machinery of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chapter in Rivers State.

Because of this struggle of “ego and supremacy”,  the All Progressive congress, APC did not have any candidate in the 2019 general elections.

According to Adesina, the presidential message reads:

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), after the expiration of the term of the Board members appointed in 2016.

Members of the new Board are: Mohammed Lawal (North-West), Tajudeen Umar (North-East), Adamu Mahmood Attah (North Central), Senator Magnus Abe (South-South), Dr. Stephen Dike (South-East), and Chief Pius Akinyelure (South-West).

The new Board will be in place for three years.
