The People Democratic Party through its National Working Committee, NWC, on Tuesday rejected the inclusion of Justice J.O.K Oyewole as member of the Osun State Governorship Election Appeal Panel.

The NWC of PDP said its position is predicated on the grounds that Hon. Justice Oyewole allegedly has strong connections with the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is an interested party in the Appeal and he cannot be neutral.

PDP also alleged that Justice Oyewole was a stooge of the National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and, therefore, an interested party.

While addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said the party had already petitioned the President of the Court of Appeal to replace Justice Oyewole with another Justice of the Appeal Court, who has no link with Osun or the APC.

Ologbondiyan argued that there was “clear likelihood” of Justice Oyewole being biased against the PDP and its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke in the appeal.

The PDP spokesperson was quoted as follows:

“Our legal team has written to the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa wherein the party objected to his inclusion as member of the panel.

“The panel member (Oyewole) is already bias against the PDP and, governorship candidate,    Senator Ademola Adeleke.

“Hon. Justice Oyewole (JCA  is an indigene of Osun state and had served as High Court Judge in Lagos State under the Administration of Bola Amhed Tinubu who is the national Leader of APC.

“Bola Amhed Tinubu, APC National leader is Oyewole’s political godfather and would always be predisposed to serve his master’s interest.

“When the seat of the Chief Judge of Osun State became vacant, some years back, upon the retirement of Hon. Justice G.O.Ojo, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu insisted on his anointed candidate, Hon. J.O.K. Oyewole on the judiciary of Osun State at all cost.

“The PDP, therefore, has passed vote of no confidence on Justice Oyewole as member of the Appeal Panel”.

It would also be recalled that the immediate past governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola was Commissioner of works, under Bola Tinubu in Lagos state and Osun is the native state of Bola Tinubu. We need natural justice; PDP cries.

PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, while briefing newsmen in Abuja said the PDP has already written to the president of the court of Appeal wherein it objected to the inclusion of Oyewole as panel member.
