NYSC allowance increased to N33000

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) monthly allowance has been increased to N33,000 by Buhari’s government.

The new increment was confirmed by Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during a working visit to the NYSC secretariat in Bauchi State.

Recalled that the new minimum wage bill for Nigerian workers was signed into law in April 2019 by President Buhari, the corp members were desperately waiting to be included in the new payment.

The director said that the increase is in compliance to the new minimum wage as approved by the federal government.

The DG had before now communicated to the corp members that their ‘allowee’ would be increased “immediately the federal government starts the payment of the new minimum wage”.

“Your monthly allowance would be increased immediately the Federal Government starts the payment of the new minimum wage to all public servants nationwide,” he said in an address delivered at the NYSC orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.

“Efforts are in top gear at all levels to ensure adequate welfare for all corps members.”
