Makinde reacts to Appeal Court’s judgement, Says he remain the Oyo State Governor

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has stated that the mandate given to him by the people of Oyo state on March 9, 2019 is intact.

Gov Makinde made this known while reacting to the court of Appeal judgement on Monday.

Daily Tells Nigeria recalls that Appeal Court court sitting in Oyo state capital on Monday set aside the tribunal judgement that nullified the petition brought to the court by Adelabu against Makinde of the PDP.

The Appeal Court said he found out that the judgement of the tribunal ruling out Adelabu’s petition was perverse.

However, the Appeal Court did not make any further order regarding the election of Seyi Makinde.

But, resolved in maintaining the status quo as the time of filing the petition by Adelabu.

While reacting to the Appeal Court ruling, Makinde’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa, declared that the mandate given to Makinde by his people can not be taken away through the backdoor.

His statement reads: “There is no ambiguity with regards to the situation in our state similar to the election of March 9, 2019 is concerned.

“Our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), won the political election. The triumph was reaffirmed by the judgment of the Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Ibadan.

“On Monday, the Court of Appeal, likewise sitting in Ibadan, conveyed its judgment on the intrigue by the applicant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo Adelabu.

“In its judgment, the Appeal Court wouldn’t give any of the three key reliefs looked for by the APC applicant.

“The court would not invalidate the political decision; it additionally wouldn’t organization a new political decision or the retrial of the request.

“With the above being the truth of the result of the Appeal Court judgment, the appointment of Seyi Makinde as the Governor of Oyo State has quite recently been reaffirmed.

“There is nothing in the Appeal Court’s judgment that influences the decisions made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and there is nothing that messes with the order openly given to Seyi Makinde by the individuals of Oyo State.

“Gov. Makinde therefore encourages the great individuals of the state to keep quiet and decline to be incited by operators of interruption who are looking to upswing reality, which stays steady, despite seemingly insurmountable opposition.

“We want to advise the people of Oyo state to disregard the doctored reports in certain news sources, which are simply citing the judgment of the Court of Appeal against the real content,” quoted from NAN.

Makinde, further, guaranteed the individuals of the express that he would not be prevented from taking the state to more prominent statures through the usage of his four-point plan.
