Finally INEC has received Supreme Court Ruling but yet to Issue Certificate of Return to Diri

INEC has received court judgement

The Independence National Electoral Commission has officially received the Supreme Court Judgement on Bayelsa Election, sacking David Lyon as Governor-Elect.

However the commission is yet to issue a Certificate of Return to Senator Diri, the People’s Democratic Candidate as ordered by the apex Court.

INEC has not yet given reasons why she refused to issue the certificate by now.

Daily Tells Nigeria is at the INEC headquaters to monitor the event as it unfold.

But, it would be recalled that, INEC had issued a statement yesterday that the commission will act as soon as they received the apex court’s judgement.

Though, this Friday morning Daily Tells Nigeria confirmed that the results of the polls held just three months ago were unavailable.

The sudden dis appearance of the Bayelsa State Election Results from the INEC website is causingPanic in Diri’s camp.

Moreover, the outgoing governor, Seriake Dickson in his valedictory live media chat on Thursday, stated that the PDP candidate, Senator Douye Diri, would be inaugurated as the new Governor of the state following the apex court judgment.

Dickson said: “He does not think the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole is competent to seek an appeal over the decisions of the Supreme Court.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu and some National Commissioners are currently in a closed door meeting at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja as at the time of giving out this report.
