INEC declared Kogi west Senatorial Elections Inconclusive as Smart Adeyemi leads Melaye

.The Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the Kogi West Senatorial districts elections inconclusive and issued a statement on their reasons.

The electoral body said that reasons for declaring the elections inconclusive was in tandem with the electoral laws.

INEC, through Prof. Lawal said that the margin between the two contenders (Smart Adeyemi, APC and Dino Melaye of PDP) are lower than  the number of registered voters in 53 polling units of 20 registration areas in the zone where elections were cancelled.

The returning officer, Lawal, declared that the margin between the duo is 20,570 which is far below the number of registered voters in the affected areas which is 43,127.

However, Adeyemi polled a total of 80,118 votes, while Melaye scored 59,548 votes from the seven Local Government Areas in the senatorial district.

The electoral umpire, ended that the INEC will announced a new date for the supplementary election in the 53 polling units.

He emphasied that, after the supplementary election the winner will be announced and returned elected according to the INEC electoral law.

Meanwhile, Engr. Wada and the PDP has rejected the governorship and Senatorial results, as declared by INEC.

One of the PDP chieftains said that there is nothing like inconclusive, that INEC must learn to do the right thing, that PDP won Kogi west elections and governorship elections.
