The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has explained why Abdulmummin Jibrin’s name was excluded from the Chairmanship committees of the House.
Gbajabiamila debunked the rumors that he used Jibrin and dumped him, without any rewarding him with any committee, even though Jubrin is a ranking member with experience.
Jubrin was Gbajabiamila’s campaign Director General and his name was not cited in any of the juicy position as chairman of any committee.
The speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, said that Jubrin was fully involved in the process of composition of the chairmanship of different committees but declined to be chairman of any committee.
The former majority leader, now speaker of the 9th Assembly yesterday took to his twitter page and tweeted the mind of the Kano lawmaker.
In his twits, he claimed that the Kano born politician wanted to exit the legislative arm of government for fresh challenge but was persuaded to wait a bit longer.
He said this in his twit that Jubrin is now fully ready to perform his legislative duty after winning his re-election for the third time.
“Let me clarify that he was not excluded from the leadership composition.
“He was involved in the composition process and declined accepting any committee leadership.
“Jubrin had, repeatedly, made clear his intention to leave. My persuasions and that of some other leaders convinced him, reluctantly, to stay a bit longer.
“He wants a fresh challenge and his preference will be to return to the university and pursue his professorial ambition, face his private business or serve in the executive arm of public service.
“I have no doubt, whatever he decides, he will be of immense value. He has had a meritorious career in Nass over the last decade.”
However, it will be recalled that Jubrin, was a strong supporter for former Speaker, Yakubu Dogara in 2015
He was also appointed the Chairman of Appropriations committee by speaker Dogora and was later suspended for 180 days by the same Dogara when he (Jubrin) raised alarm of budget padding.
