Kanu Nwankwo appointed as SSA on sport

Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has appointed Kanu Nwankwo, the former Super Eagles Captain as Senior Special Assistant on Sports matters in Imo State.

The governor made this appointment on Thursday through his Special assistance on New media Aic Akwarandu.

In a statement contains the role of his engagement, to assist Emeka Ihedioha’s administration in rebuilding the sporting sector in the state.

Nwankwo Kanu, former Arsenal football striker with premiership tittles and Championship title from Ajax is a holder of the OON national title.

Papilo as fondly called by his fans is father of three Children, was born in Oweri 1st August 1976.

He founded the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) which has saved hundreds of lives.

He had played for the following clubs before retiring from active football and competitions, Iwuanyanwu Nationale in Nigeria, Dutch side Ajax where he won championship.

He has also played for Inter Milan of Italy, Arsenal FC, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth.

Papilo has won UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal.

The unpredicted skipper has three FA Cup Winners Medals and also African Player of the Year awards for two times amongst others.

Kanu, now Senior Special Assistant to Governor Emeka Ihedioha is one of the soccer legends in the world that has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.

He is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

He is married to Amarachi Kanu with three children.

Kanu Nwankwo’s appointment takes effect immediately according to the governor’s aide on new media.
