However, none of the officers summoned did appear before the committee on the scheduled date Friday, July 5.

Hon. Elumelu made claim that he lost an aunt and left had to leave Abuja immediately after Thursday’s plenary session for Delta state.

The lawmaker said that he was informed that other principal officers were also out of town.

The embattled minority leader said he mandated his Special Assistant to write to the NWC for a reschedule of the meeting.

Elumelu reacts to suspension; and was quoted as follows:

“I am surprised and shocked, that the National Working Committee of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) can sit and take a decision without giving room for fair hearing.

The statement futher reads: “I had expected that if the date we suggested was not convenient for the party, they would have propose another day when we could appear before them.

“I have great respect for the party and am ready to serve.”

Ndudi Elumelu’s allies has also reacted to the suspension though it is not clear what will be the Party’s final decision to this suspension be.

The position given to Elumelu by the speaker was meant to Hon. Chinda from Rivers, this might be because Rivers state seems to be financier of PDP  and its strongest hold.

Rt.Hon Chinda might be a better bet for the oppostion parties in the assembly because of his background and antecedence.
