In recognition of his examplary leadership and mentorship of Eket sons and daughters, and even beyond the borders of Akwa Ibom State, the Paramount Ruler of Eket, Obong E.C.D. Abia has honoured the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno as Mkpison Eket.
The investiture was part of activities marking the 85th birthday of the Paramount Ruler of Eket, Obong E.C.D. Abia, at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler today, November 12, 2021.
Pastor Umo Eno, though not a native of Eket by birth, is a well celebrated son of Eket given his numerous investments and impacts in Eket land especially, the employment of hundreds of Eket indigenes in the Royalty Group of Companies.
Worthy of mention is the fact that Pastor Umo Eno has been resident in Eket long before 1997 when he began Royalty Hotels, a business concern that has metamorphosed to a group of companies.
He is also the undersherperd of the All Nations Christian Ministry International located in Eket, and has provided spiritual succour for many in Eket and beyond.
In his response, the Hon. Commissioner thanked the Paramount Ruler and the good people of Eket for recognizing his modest contributions to the land since 1997 when he opened the doors of Royalty for business in Eket.
Responding to questions from Journalists on why he should receive a chieftaincy title as a pastor, he said there is nothing wrong in being recognized by his community for his modest contributions, adding that he does not see Mkpisong as a chieftaincy title but a recognition as one of the pillars of development in the community.
He therefore promised to continue to do more to provide jobs for the youths in Akwa Ibom State and contribute his quota to the general development of the State.
Also honoured at the event included but not limited to; Prof Des Wilson, Hon. Frank Archibong, Chief Assam Usoro, Hon. Ephraim Inyangeyen, and Hon Ekanem Willie.
