Presidency Breaks Silence On Edo APC Crisis

The Presidency on Sunday reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is capable of handling the crisis shaking the Edo State chapter.

Daily Tells Nigeria reports that the crack between the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole, and the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, turned brutal on Saturday.

Saturday’s assaults, viciousness had broken out in Ivbaro, in the Owan East LGA of Edo State as hooligans claimed to be from the state government attacked the gathering of the Edo Peoples Movement, holding in the residence of an APC chieftain, Ibrahim Bawa.

A few people were harmed and property worth millions of naira were destroyed.

On Saturday, thugs attacked the convoy of Governor Obaseki, Deputy Governor Philip Shuaibu and the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu at Iyamoh the country home of  Oshiomole.

The Pro-Chancellor of Edo University, Iyahmo, Prof. T.O.K Audu was in the company of the convoy.

The Edo youth attacked the convoy.

Recalled this online media reported that; Obaseki said tragically his security can’t be ensured in Oshiomole’s country home.

The Governor, Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, Edo Deputy Governor, Hon Philip Shaibu and a few dignitaries were pelted with stones by certain hooligans at Oshiomole’s Iyamho living arrangement in Edo State.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu while  answering questions from the Punch inquiries on Sunday, said: “Let them go and talk to the party.”

Garba also refused to speak when asked if it was necessary for President Buhari to intervene in the crisis.

Meanwhile, from the Presidency source, who pleaded anonymity he said the president cannot be personally involved in everything.

He was quoted as: “The President doesn’t have to be everywhere; he is not like some others; Buhari is different,” the source said.

The Presidency seems to be interested in resolving Edo Crisis which has been lingering for some times now.
