Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has thrown his support behind Operation Amotekun, he said this has made the restructuring of the country inevitable.

Dickson, said the governors opted for that security outfit because of “the politicisation and collapse of the centralised national security apparatus in the country”.

The Federal Government has been highly criticised for declaring operation Amotekun illegal.

According to the governors from the South-west zone the security initiative is aimed at checking criminal activities in their states.

Chief Press Secretary to governor Dickson, Mr Fidelis Soriwei, on Monday said “The politicisation and over-centralisation of security without an effective funding mechanism and arrangements for professionalism has reduced Nigeria to an un-policed country,”

He however, cautioned that if the country was not restructured now, there might be nothing left for Nigerians to restructure when they were ready.

Dickson,  who described “Amotekun as a component of the restructuring” which he had championed,  said every South-South state had some form of internal security mechanism to collaborate with the law enforcement agencies.

Dickson boosted that, his state has different security outfits; Bayelsa Volunteers, State Vigilante, Community Safety Corps and Water Water Security.

He charged the South South governors to leave upto expectations and stop shying away from their responsibities.

“No governor from the South-South has made serious comments on the issues of restructuring, state police and true federalism. He said

“I have taken the message for restructuring, true federalism and the need for state police everywhere, even to the doorstep of the President.”

Amotekun is a clear issue of restructuring. It is like  state and regional police that I have been calling for.”

Governor Dickson calls for other governors from the Southern region to que behind Operation Amotekun and support them because the Southern region need internal security.

Meanwhile, the South-west Leaders, Stateholders and their Obas fully are in support of their Governors on Amotekun security outfit.
