Breaking: Court grants Shehu Sani N10m Bail

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday has granted Senator Shehu Sani bail with the sum of N10 million.

Shehu Sani was a former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the red chamber of Nigeria’s National Assembly.

Sani was arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over charges of bribery.

He has been remanded in Prison by the EFCC since on December 2019.

The former senator was accused of collecting $15,000 from one Sani Dauda, the ASD motor boss under false pretense on November 20, 2019, promising to give Ibrahim Muhammad Tanko, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, in order to influence some pending cases in court.

According to our source he was also accused of collecting another $10,000 from Dauda to bribe the acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.

On the charges leveled against him, he has pleaded not guilty.

Justice Inyang Ekwo admitted Sani’s bail after hearing submissions from all parties and his bail application.

But Abba Mohammed, counsel to the EFCC, asked the court for a remand order against the former lawmaker.

Daily Tells recalled that Shehu Sani was an opposing voice to Gov. El-Rufai and the APC in the National Assembly.

He was deprived of APC ticket to contest for his second term so he moved to another party where he lost.
