President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Senator Ita Enang as his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate).

Ita Enang, from Akwa Ibom state, was appointed a special adviser to President Buhari during his first term in 2015.

Though the President’s first term ended on 29th May this year, Enang continued to work in an acting capacity in Buhari’s second term, even when his appointment had not been renewed like many other aides.

Enang served has former Special to Mr. Buhari, Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District in the 7th Assembly, three terms member of house of Representative, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly member in 1992 and also as a counselor.

The president replaced Ita Enang with Omoworare Babajide, a former senator from Osun state, the source said.

A source from the Presidency alleges that Mr Enang failed in his duty in managing the relationship between President Muhammadu Buhari and senators in the eighth Senate, despite being a former senator himself, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

The President Buhari’s feud between the former senate President, Bukola Saraki was characterized by deep animosity where Ita Enang was shown his incapacitation.

It will be recalled that Senator Saraki was elected in 2015 under the All Progressives Congress, same party with President Buhari, but the duo parted ways politically.

However, Saraki later defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and became a critic of the Buhari administration.

The source explained that “Despite the experience Enang had in legislative matters he could not work with his former colleagues, he failed in resolving the frequent crisis the senators were having with the president Buhari.”

“He might be compensated with another position, possibly President adviser on Niger Delta matters.

Daily Tells understands that the president will announce new appointment this week and Enang may be among the appointees.
