Dino lost his reelection in appeal court

Senator Dino Melaye lost his reelection as Court of Appeal orders for a fresh election.

The Senator took to his official twitter account to announce the latest development.

He twitted: “I just lost my election at the Appeal Court and Fresh election ordered,” Dino Melaye tweeted on Friday.

Recalled that the Kogi State and National Assembly Election Tribunal had nullified the same election on Friday, 23 August.

Melaye, candidate of PDP lost in the court as Candidate of APC challenges his pronouncement as winner by INEC.

The Appeal court nullifies the election of the Senator representing Kogi West as Dino pleaded with his supporters to remain calm.

“I just lost my election at the Appeal Court and fresh election ordered. In all things, I give God the praise. He who started the good thing will definitely complete it. I ask my supporters to be law-abiding as we shall always overcome. To God be the Glory,” he tweeted.

However, Smart Adeyemi challenged Melaye’s victory on three grounds of irregularities, over-voting and non-compliance with the electoral acts.

Daily Tells Nigeria reports that the three-man panel led by Justice A. O. Chijioke in a unanimous judgment accepted Adeyemi’s appeal and ordered fresh election.

Recalled that Dino had lost his bid to contest for the gubernatorial election coming up in November and now he has lost the reelection in the Appeal.

The INEC is yet to respond to the judgement and to fix the date for the senatorial election.
