Ameachi said he is not aware of Dakuku Peterside’s sacked as DG NIMASA



Information reaching our news desk captured the Minister of Transportation saying he is not aware of the reported removal of the Director-General (DG) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dakuku Peterside.

Ameachi whose Dakuku is working under said such decision cannot be taken without his consent as the minister in that sector.

His words: “If he were to be sacked, the minister of transportation would be told to formally intimate the DG of his sack, and I am not aware that the president has directed me to intimate anybody of his sack.

Speaking in an interview with AIT on Thursday, the Minister of Transportation to time to address the issue that he is not aware.

Albeit, no official proclamation from the administration is backing the cases, there are reports that Peterside, whose residency terminates in a couple of days, has been sacked and supplanted by Bashir Jamoh as the new DG of the office.

Jamoh is at present the Executive Director of Administration and Finance in NIMASA.

Talking with AIT on Thursday, the Minister of Transportation responded to the updates on the sack, saying he didn’t know about it.

There has been an allegation of insubordination but unconfirmed report had it that Dakuku refused to attend National Assembly Summons.

Meanwhile Ameachi clear the air on Dakuku’s alleged refusal to attend National Assembly summons, the Minister added, “I attend National assembly summons because they have the authority to summon a minister or the head of parastatals.

“I would be surprised if Peterside does not honour summons because he was once a member of the House of Representatives.
