Don’t Allow PDP to Divide Us – Akpanusoh sues for peace in Esit Eket

Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh, member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State constituency in Akwa Ibom State house of Assembly insist that Ibeno should produce federal house of Assembly member in 2023.

Akpanusoh insists Ibeno LGA should produce next Federal House Member.

Member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno called on the people of Zone B in Esit Eket local government area to always embrace peace in order to move the area forward.

He also said that for equity, justice and fairness, it is the turn of Ibeno local government area to produce the next Federal House member in 2023.

Akpanusoh made this submission on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, during a meeting of Zone B comprising of Ward 4, 5, 6 and 9 respectively.

He maintained that Zone B remain the largest geopolitical zone in Esit Eket LGA, and have important role to play in the politics of the local government area.

“We are the metropolitan of the local government and we should be conscious of the fact that we have a role to play in the politics of Esit Eket.

Akpanusoh frown at a situation where people from other zones trespassed his zone, noting that as a serving House of Assembly member, he should be accorded due recognition as a leader in the zone.

“We can sit down here and develop our leadership template without subjecting ourselves to the leadership of other zones. Nobody have the right to summon a meeting of Zone B without consulting the leadership of the zone and get approval from the House of Assembly Member. Nobody should underrate my office,” Akpanusoh said.

He averred that as the highest political office holder in the zone, he has the right to preside on meetings as political leader until a substantive political leader emerge, saying he should be consulted before any stakeholders meeting is held in his zone as anything on the contrary is to undermine his office which will not be condoned henceforth.

He said as member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, “Whatever I do in Esit Eket, I will also do same in Ibeno,” as what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

“Esit Eket LGA cannot win election without Ibeno. In my own opinion, we must allow Ibeno LGA to produce the next Federal House Member come 2023. I will never stand against equity, justice and fairness. I have to call this meeting today and make my opinion known.

He noted that the zoning arrangements for Federal House of Representatives in Eket Federal Constituency was not premised on State Constituency basis but on local government area, insisting that Ibeno is the right local government to produce the next Federal Lawmaker for peace to reign in the area.

“War can never bring any development. In any ramification, let us try and make peace between Ibeno and Esit Eket. I am calling on the entire local government of Esit Eket and Ibeno to embrace peace for development to thrive.

“Don’t allow PDP to divide us. Don’t allow APC to divide us. Party will come and go, then we will come back to the same community,” he counselled.

He emphasized that the people of both local government area should maintain peace always as any disagreement can be settled in a roundtable.

Akpanusoh called on the people of Zone B to get registered in the ongoing PDP and INEC e-Registration, saying as a voter and registered party member, you have a stake in decision making in your community.

He thanked the people of Zone B for their prayers during the unfortunate attempt to kidnapped him while attending a traditional marriage in Uquo on November 2021, promising to work with the head of security operatives to stop kidnapping in Esit Eket which has been going on in the past few years unabated.

Akpanusoh further appealed to the people to support the Completion Agenda and Succession Plan of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

“I am standing here to assure you that this zone will join hands with the governor to bring his successor in 2023.”

He advised his people to explore opportunities by identifying with people outside Esit Eket LGA so as to gain some advantage through such relationship, saying there is no time that manner will fall from heaven.

In their separate speeches, the Clan Head of Eket Offiong, HRH Etteidong Nsuduok Etteudo Ikot, SA to the Governor on Project, Pastor Isaiah Abia, Village Head of Ekpene Obo, Chief Ediyanga, former Vice Chairman of Esit Eket LGA, Hon. Prince Enobong Asubop and others, thanked Dr. Akpanusoh for convening the meeting, saying all the issues he has listed can be discussed at stakeholders level to avoid unnecessary interruption while Leader of Esit Eket Legislative Council, Hon. Bright Maxwell in his contribution, said the meeting have provided opportunity to address the issue of which zone to produce the next chairman.

In attendance were political stakeholders from Zone B including Dr. O. D. Umoh, Hon. Etim Akansi, Barr. Aniefiok Ekwere, Councillors, Supervisors, party exco, women and youth.
