Nigeria beats South Africa to qualiy

The Super Eagles of Nigeria beats Bafana Bafana of South Africa 2:1 to qualify for semi-finals in ongoing Afcon 2019.

The match which was played on Wednesday night as the second match for quarter finals saw Nigeria coming out victoriously.

The Eagles’ made the first lead with 1:0 in the first half of the game as the goal was scored by Villarreal striker Chukwueze.

Samuel Chukwueze  a 20 year old player gave the  Eagles 🇳🇬 super Eagles of Nigeria a 1-0 lead following an assist from Alex Iwobi of Arsenal FC.

The second half equalizer came to south Africa in through a controversial offside goal with special thanks to Video Assistant Referee’s (VAR) decision.

Nigeria will now fight for the final round of the trophy against Algeria or Ivory Coast after their decisive quarter finals today at the Cairo International Stadium.

William Troost-Ekong the defender gave the winning goal at the 88th minutes, Nigeria beats South Africa 2:1.

However, the super Eagles winning against the Bafana of South Africa brought so much joy and support the the Pharoahs of Egypt as they celebrate ‘bye bye Bafana Bafana.’

The Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has congratulated his boys and blamed the Video Assistant Referee, VAR, system, for delaying the game.

Rohr said the spirit of the game was killed by the referee,  just to confirm South Africa’s goal unsettled his team.

Daily Tells understands that this is the first time VAR is used in this tournament and was introduced in this quarter finals.

“For five minutes we had to wait, goal or no goal, and that was hard for my team,” Rohr said,

According to super Eagles head Coach, he mocked the VAR’s decision on the free kick from his team.

“The second goal was not counted for us courtesy of VAR, did VAR not seen this free kick, you never know what can happen with VAR on a free kicks!

“After that my team were mentally strong and we were able to come back,” he lamented

Recall that, Nigeria will now play the winner between Algeria and Ivory Coast.
