Super Eagles Captain, Mikel Obi has reacted to Nigeria’s victory against Burundi in the ongoing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Super Eagles beats Burundi 1:0 in their first leg match opening
Daily Tells reports that the game was won by a lone goal from substitute striker Odion Ighalo in the 77th minute of the game
The former Chelsea midfielder spoke after the game, he said the Burundian side were not push over as they held their ground making it difficult for the Super Eagles to triumph easily,
Mikel said, “It was indeed a tough match. We played a compact team that was not easy to break into,”
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr put the blamed his on the virus that attacked his players within the week in camp, that most of his players could not recover fully from the attack of the virus.
“It was definitely a tough match and we are happy to have gotten the result. We had some challenges with virus attack that knocked out some of our players, but I believe we will get better with every match,” he claimed
Nigeria’s super eagles next match on the group stage comes up on 26th June against Guinea that played 2:2 draw with Madagascar in their first leg encounter in the 2019 AFCON tournament
