1.ONNOGHEN : Supreme Court Speaks On Being Responsible For Onnoghen’s Resignation

The highest court in Nigeria, The Supreme Court has denied reports that six of its directors were behind the resignation of former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen. The apex court, in a statement signed by the Director, Information and Press, Dr. Festus Akande, made this known on Monday. Akande also made it clear that it does not take orders from President Muhammadu Buhari, as it remained an independent arm of government.

2. Atiku Vs Buhari: PDP Accuses INEC Of Replacing Election Server

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of replacing all the servers in its headquarters and offices in all states of the federation and Abuja.

In a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP also alleged that the frenzy activity was in a desperate bid to obliterate the actual Presidential election results transmitted from the polling centres across the nation.

3. Akpabio and Ameachi Settled ‘Political Differences’ for their political future

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Festus Keyamo said the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio have settled the perceived political differences between them. Daily Tells Nigeria understands that Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Keyamo revealed In a statement sent to Channels Television on Monday that both leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ironed out their differences when they met on April 14.

4. APC Elders in Kogi State Petition Buhari, Insist Yahaya Bello ‘Unfit’ For Second Term

Stakeholders of the Kogi state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, have petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari, demanding that the governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, should not be given a second term.

Daily Tells Nigeria note that the APC Elders claimed that Governor Bello received about N344billion in the last 38 months of his stewardship, without doing anything with the allocations.

5.   The Ruling Party, APC, Presidency Wants To Vacate 1999 Constitution – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Presidency are plotting to vacate Nigeria’s constitution.

In a statement on Monday by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s private ten-day trip to London without transiting power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as required by the constitution, was an act of dereliction.

6. NASS LEADERSHIP: Lawmakers Want Secret Ballot For National Assembly Election

Two members of the House of Representatives on Sunday said the standing rules of the National Assembly should not be disregarded in deciding the mode of election of presiding officers of the 9th National Assembly

NAN reported that the lawmakers – Rimamnde Shawulu (Peoples Democratic Party-Taraba) and Kehinde Agboola (PDP-Ekiti)– made the remarks in separate interviews in Abuja.

7. JAMB Officially Announces Result Release Date

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, on Monday said that it is yet to release results of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME. However, the board made it known that it would do so within the week. Concise News had reported that the board through its head of Media and Publicity, Dr Fabian Benjamin made it known that the results will be available from Monday, April 29.

Nigeria’s U20 boys have arrived in Bad Goegging Munich in Germany for a three –week intensive final camping programme ahead of the FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Poland. Concise News reports that delegation comprising team officials and 23 players travelled aboard a Lufthansa Airline flight from Abuja on Saturday night and arrived in Frankfurt just before 6 am, before a 4-hour road trip to the city. The delegation is staying at The Monarch Hotel.

10. Dickson Declines Assent To Bill Seeking Life Pension For Bayelsa Lawmakers

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has declined assent to the bill seeking lifetime pension for lawmakers in the state as proposed and passed by the Assembly. The State Commissioner for Information, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, made this known in a statement made available to journalists on Monday. The bill which was proposed last week by the leader of the House of Assembly Peter Akpe, will grant life pensions to Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and other members. Iworiso-Markson said the governor conveyed the decision to decline assent to the bill in a letter to the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Monday.
